Hi everybody so sorry that has been a while since I have been crafty. There has been so much going on, but I have my list of things that I want to post so I should be around a lot more. I know you are excited!!!!
So I got this free photo book from CVS and I wanted to give it to my Mother-In-Law for her birthday and well it wasn’t what I thought it was going to be so here is how I fixed it.
Here is the free book
It looks nice and then I opened it up and this is what I found.
The pages were stapled together and just slipped into the cover. There was a 5×7 option of the book, probably should have went that route, but then I probably wouldn’t have a blog post, so it’s a win win.
So, knowing that I had to fix the book to make it more to my standards I took it apart.
I cut 5×7 mats out of white cardstock. You can use any color you want, but I have an obscene amount of white cardstock that I need to use. If any readers have some thoughts on what I can do with white cardstock please leave me some comments.
I ❤ my rotary trimmer!!!!
So after I had all of the mats cut, 10 pages worth. I taped the pictures to the mats. I had to keep it single sided. If you look carefully at the picture below you will see there is more black spacing on the left so I couldn’t do double sided without it looking even more silly.
The velum cover that was stapled to the pictures I taped directly to the book cover for the window.
I assembled the book and to bind it I used binder clips
Yes I know black probably would have been more professional, but I love fun colored supplies and this is all I had so that is what I used.
The probably I now faced was that the book didn’t shut nice with the prongs of the binder clips. So easy fix. I took them off. It’s not like my Mother-In-Law is ever going to unbind the book. Geeze at least I hope not.
Now the book laid really flat and nice, and it felt more like a book.
The gift was a success and my Mother-In-Law is still talking about it weeks later. However it could be because her grandson drew her a picture that is in the back of the book. So what if it’s just a page of scribbles.
Hope you liked this crafty idea and revamp. Stay tuned for more!
Happy Friday everybody!!
