Getting back on Track with our Memories

I am over a year behind on my Family Photobooks.  I have not made it a priority and it’s starting eat away at me.  My toddler is starting to really get into pictures and I don’t want him just looking at pictures on my phone.  So it’s time to really get the books up to date.  I am through 2013 and only have a couple of pages of 2014.  I did however stay up to date enough that I could still get the 3rd edition of the “Jack Book” out to the family for Christmas, but that was the extent of what I got done.

So this week I am tasking myself with doing a page a day.  Hoping that will give me the momentum I need to get me back on track and caught up on our books so that we can all enjoy them.

I also want to make a point every month or couple of months for me and my husband to sit down and enjoy the books too.  They are for all of us not just me or just Jack.

For those that have photo albums, scrapbooks, etc. What do you do to enjoy them?  We all put some much time and effort into them that it seems like a waste to just leave them on the shelf.

Follow me on Faceboook at WarmTidings by the Crafty Organizer to see my progress and other new items coming to the Etsy site and organizing ideas!!!!!

Now it’s time to get those photos organized and ready to go.  Next post…Organizing your photos!!!!

Be back soon!!!

1,000 Mile Journey Continues…

Since leaving IL it has been a “battle” finding somewhere to land.  So, hopefully the third time is the charm and we can actually start enjoying our time here in New York.

With this last move here are a couple of things that we learned.

  • In apartment living, newer is NOT better. Especially if it’s a corporate owned complex
    • The problem is that corners are cut with the construction of the building.  We can hear EVERYTHING that goes on upstairs.  I should NOT be able to hear the lyrics to this person’s music.
  • Having our own space is VERY important
    • In our new place I get an office and you have no idea how excited I am about this.
  • We should have just held out and waited to move into a house the last time

It’s time to start packing again.  Thank goodness Staples is having an organization sale and banker’s boxes are on sale.  The movers loved all of the boxes being the same size so glad that we can accommodate them again.   The goal this time is when I pull away from this place it will be the last time I ever have to look at it again.

I have my lists ready and already started cleaning.  So it’s going to be a busy week but the weather is going to keep us home as it’s going to be crappy again!!!!

Have a great week everybody!!!

1,000 Mile Journey – It’s truck day

I can’t believe it’s here.  So much has happened and I am preparing myself for complete exhaustion, let’s just hope the coffee maker doesn’t get broken in the move!

We are about 80% packed.  I still have to do the kitchen, but with as much as I have moved packing a kitchen is easy peezy.   Plus we are not leaving until tomorrow morning  so that makes packing up the truck less daunting.

Here is how we are doing with our AGENDA

  • Find a job – CHECK
  • Find somewhere to live – CHECK
  • Schedule moving truck – CHECK
  • Start purging and figuring out what we need to pack so we can figure out the supplies – IN PROCESS
    • Organize into Move, Sell, Toss categories.  And….GO
  • Get all necessary supplies, thank goodness I work for a wholesale distributor of that kind of stuff.  Can get it way cheaper and in bulk. – Shockingly enough Office Max saved the day with their brand banker’s boxes and coupons!!!  Saved a Ton of $$$
  • Start Packing – IN PROCESS
  • Keep Packing – KEEP GOING
  • Yup, it never ends
  • Take a break and spend some time with family and the Milwaukee Brewers – CHECK, Thank you to my sister for the awesome party it was so wonderful to see everybody!!!!
  • Pin some “How to pack a moving truck pins” on Pinterest – CHECK
  • On the way to get the truck make a couple of administrative stops
    • Bank
    • Post office
    • Get some more totes and a lock for the truck
  • Get the truck and start loading
  • Late morning Tuesday – We’re off!!!!

I was really sad yesterday when I had to leave my baby boy with his Grandparents.  I am eternally grateful to them for taking care of him and keeping him out of our way.  But I am still a little sad and I suck at goodbyes so needless today I teared up a bit (I am not too writing this).

Ok so just read our lease, I cannot wait until we can buy a house and we don’t have so many rules and regulations.  Ugh.

Time to get this day started.     Happy Monday Everybody!!!

1,000 mile journey: 2 weeks to go

Big milestone today, WE HAVE SOMEWHERE TO LIVE!! You have no idea how short my nails are. I figured we would get it, but it’s the unknown that is so crazy. So now it’s time to make lists. Who am I kidding I actually did this over the weekend. Lists for everything we have to schedule, to get hooked up, and to turn off. I feel like I have done this enough that it should be easier. Don’t worry for everybody moving I will share my lists and post them so you can use them as reference.

So now because we have an apartment We got the truck scheduled and got some boxes so now we can start. :). Two weeks is going to go by fast so it’s going to be really important to stay organized!!!
So excited about our journey!!!!

Until later

1,000 Mile Journey – Our days are numbered…FINALLY

Well, here we go.  After a couple of months of plotting and planning and a hundred of resumes later, we are finally making the big move to New York.  No we are not moving to the city, that’s just crazy.  But, believe me we will be visiting there often.

So the point of this series is to chronicle our move.  Partially so that I remember everything that happened while we were moving for scrapbook purposes.  Also, to show that as long as you are organized it doesn’t matter how far you are moving or the fact that you have to do it in about two weeks.  🙂

The Agenda:

  • Find a job – CHECK
  • Find somewhere to live – well…waiting until after the holiday weekend to see if we got an apartment.  FINGERS CROSSED!
  • Schedule moving truck – will do once we know for sure we have a destination, but quotes have been done.
  • Start purging and figuring out what we need to pack so we can figure out the supplies
    • Organize into Move, Sell, Toss categories.  And….GO
  • Get all necessary supplies, thank goodness I work for a wholesale distributor of that kind of stuff.  Can get it way cheaper and in bulk.
  • Start Packing
  • Keep Packing
  • Yup, it never ends
  • Get the truck and start loading
  • Next afternoon – we are off.

So then while doing all of this stuff, don’t worry I will keep you updated on the progress.  There are all of the other things that I want to try to get done before we leave so then I don’t have to worry about it when we get out there and I have to start work.

Things like

  • Find a Daycare for kid
  • Pediatrician
  • Vet
  • Car insurance
  • How to get our leased car registered
  • Sell my car before we leave

I already have a written list for this, I will keep you updated on this one too.

I am always up for a good challenge.  Hoping that this will translate into some weight-loss too.  🙂  I like to forget to eat when I am in a zone.

If there are any readers out there that have any tips for long distance moves PLEASE COMMENT!!!!!   I will take all of the advice I can get!

Will send an update soon!!!!!

Preparing for the week…kind of overwhelming

Happy JUNE everybody.  I can’t believe it’s June already.    Every week I kind of get excited to write down my to do list of things I want to accomplish and by the time I am done writing everything down I am overwhelmed and exhausted.

photo (29)

So the goal is to take things one step at a time.  The world isn’t going to end if I don’t get everything done that night.    So there are a lot of things that I want to accomplish this week.  It may mean some later nights but I am determined to get things done.

I am ready for the at least tomorrow.  Clothes laid out, lunch made, bag packed.   Now I just need to get up on time tomorrow morning and all will be off to a good start.

Hope everybody has a great week.  I have a couple of things up my sleeve this week so stay tuned for some new posts coming!!!!!

Talk to you soon!

Super Easy Project: Grocery List Pouch

Happy April Everybody!!!!  Hopefully spring actually be here soon.  At this rate we might just go right into Summer.   Here is a simple idea that I came up with over the weekend.  I am very into couponing right now and it’s awesome because let’s face it Coupons are basically free money.  They can be pain and time consuming but if you make it part of the grocery list process it’s totally worth it.

I had been using Envelopes for my coupons, I write my list on the outside and put the coupons on the inside and off to the store I go.  But now I have no envelopes left.  So I am going to use the large amount of Cardstock that I have right now  Shameless plug alert:  Check out my site WarmTidings for my awesome cards and invitations – there’s a link to the right too ——>

Ok back to the project….

Take your normal 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper

Fold in half a staple (or tape) the sides

Now you have a front and back to write you list on

An an opening for all of those coupons

DONE

It’s a super simple project and then that way you have everything in one spot, you are organized and then not fumbling while at the store.

Have a great day everybody, see you later in the week for ideas and projects.  Hoping to get some more things posted to the Etsy site later this week.

Organizing for productivity

Last weekend I was in an organizing mood and was a little anxious about being more organized.  Let’s face it you can’t be 100% organized all of the time.  It’s not even an option when you have a toddler and another job.  At least it isn’t for me.  So with starting the Etsy Site and trying to make sure I have everything ready if I get orders I wanted to make sure I had all of my stuff in one spot instead of piled in a bin.

Here is the Before…

IMG_7112

So with an inexpensive file bin from Staples and hanging file folders that I already had here is my newly organized file box

IMG_7113

I have my box of cards at the front of the bin with what I already have listed for sale.  I have all of my Paper and embellishments in the folders ready to go when I need them.  I will also have spots for specific projects if I have to pre-cut or don’t have them put together yet.

and this is what my bin looks like now.  It’s just my tools

IMG_7114

It’s all about things having a place and making sure they are organized logically.  For example I separated my stickers into Alphabets vs Embellishments.  Why?  Because then I don’t have to sort through them all if I am looking for one or the other.

So then with my new motivation for organizing I helped a friend get all of her scrapbook stuff organized.  The Pictures with the papers she was going to use.  So then it will be much easier for her to get going on her projects because everything is no longer in a huge daunting pile that is easier to ignore.  😀

Putting everything in one spot make productivity that much easier.  Let’s see how many projects I can crank out this weekend.  Stay tuned for more posts!!!

Tomorrow’s post – Can too many pens & pads of paper hamper productivity???

Thanks for stopping by!!!
